OPT
Students can complete a 2-year Associate degree in a specialized field, called Career Technical Education, or CTE. These can be fields such as Aviation Maintenance, Marketing, Graphic Design, Electronic Engineering, and Healthcare professions.
This path would require a student to study for 2 years, taking classes in a specific field. Then, at the end of their studies, they would earn an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science.
Students who earn an Associate’s degree in a CTE field, would be eligible to apply for OPT (Optional Practical Training). This allows for up to one year of training in their field at US companies.

OPT
Students who are interested in earning a 4-year Bachelor’s degree would follow the 2+2 model.
With the 2+2 model, students can complete the first 2 years of their 4-year Bachelor degree at PCC. After they earn their Associate of Transfer degree in roughly 2 years, they may be eligible to apply for OPT (Optional Practical Training). This allows for up to one year of training in their field at companies in our area such as INTEL or Nike.
Directly after earning the Associate degree, or the one year of OPT, the student transfers to a university and completes 2 more years to receive their Bachelor degree.
Upon earning their Bachelor’s degree, the student is eligible for another year of OPT (or even longer if they have studied in a STEM field: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).
Transfer Universities
After graduation PCC, international students transfer to top-ranked national universities, for example Cornell University (#14), University of Washington (#56), and University of Oregon (#103).
Students in health care fields transfer to Oregon Health and Science University, one of the top 5 US medical schools (primary care). Portland State University is a popular choice for many fields, including Engineering students who often find paid internships in the growing tech industry in Portland.
